Confirmation Class - Grade 9 and older Confirmation class is preparation for publicly embracing the Christian faith and becoming a full member of the church. The class invites young people’s honest grappling with tough faith questions in an environment of encouragement and support. Join us on Mondays from September through April from 6:45-8:15 p.m. for this year-long course as we explore what it means to be Christian, to be part of the United Church of Christ, and a member of Wapping Community Church. Each week we will learn about a part of our church and our faith. We will talk about who God, Jesus, and the Holy Spirit are, what baptism and communion mean, and we’ll discuss what it is to have a life of faith that informs our everyday lives. We’ll also explore other world religions, play games, hear guest speakers, and go on several field trips. And we’ll spend time in service to others, exploring ways we might put our faith into action. As part of our class, we will also go on two retreats together, one day-long retreat in early fall to get to know each other, and one weekend retreat in the spring, when we’ll each write our own statement of faith. Then we’ll be prepared to make a decision about whether or not we want to confirm the vows our parents made for us at baptism, and become members of Wapping Community Church. | This year's Confirmation class chose and planned a mitten tree project during December - as you can see it was a big success! We also participated in Chapel on the Green in New Haven, serving 100 bagged lunches to the homeless folks who came for lunch and worship on the Green on a chilly January Sunday. | | | | The Confirmation Class of 2010 | |
