WEDDINGS AT THE CHURCH
Dressing Rooms There are no facilities to dress at the church.
Decorations Flowers
and candles are considered offerings to the glory of God and are
appropriate sanctuary decorations. Flowers should be in place in the
Sanctuary one hour before the ceremony. Flowers for the wedding party
may be delivered to the church, or you may prefer to have them
delivered to your home.
Arrangements
should be made for the disposition of the flowers after the service. In
the case of Saturday weddings, many couples wish to leave the flowers
in the Sanctuary for the Sunday services. If flowers are to remain for
the services of worship, they will be so acknowledged in the Sunday
morning bulletin. If interested in making these arrangements, please
contact the Church office.
If the
flowers are left for Sunday services, the question arises as to what is
to become of them. Sometimes, the family takes the flowers for their
own use. Other times the flowers are taken to some of the sick and
shut-in people of the parish. Again, arrangements may be made, in
advance, through the Church office.
Brass
candelabras and candles are available if you wish to use them. If you
desire to include a unity candle in your ceremony, we do have available
a stand and tapers to light the candles. Please ask your officiating
pastor. If you desire other decorations, please consult the pastor.
Nails, thumb tacks, and scotch tape may not be used in connection with
the decorations.
The center aisle of
the Sanctuary (56ft.) is carpeted so a runner is not necessary. The
white runner, if desired, is the responsibility of the couple. A
kneeler is available for couples who wish to make it a part of the
ceremony.
Entrance for Guests Wedding
Guests should enter the church via the front doors or through the main
rear entrance. The main rear entrance is easily recognized by looking
for the covered porch. Use the sideway that takes you from the parking
lot, past the cemetary, and to the covered entrance.
Handicapped Accessibility Our
church is completely accessible to handicapped guests and members of
the bridal party and those needing assistance. Handicapped parking is
available near the side entrance and there is a circular drive for easy
drop-off of guests. Proceed in the east side entrance door to an
elevator and go to the second floor. The sanctuary is accessible with
no need to navigate any stairs as you proceed down the hall and through
the gathering room.
The Gathering Room The
Gathering Room is a large greeting area right next to the sanctuary. It
is suitable for greeting guests and for hosting a receiving line in the
event of inclement weather.
Rice & Confetti The
throwing of rice, confetti, birdseed, etc is not permitted for safety
reasons. This includes in the church building, the driveway, parking
lot, and lawn. Rice is harmful to the birds. Confetti and birdseed are
difficult to clean up and pose a safety hazard to your guests and our
congregational members. Please inform your guests of this restriction.
Alcoholic Beverages Alcoholic
beverages are not permitted on Wapping Community Church property.
Please do not bring them into the church or onto church property. This
includes the driveway, parking lot, and your limo while it is on church
property. It is your responsibility to inform your bridal party,
guests, and limo driver.
Since your
wedding ceremony is a solemn occasion witnessed by God and the
Christian community, please do not consume alcoholic beverages before
your wedding ceremony.
Smoking The
smoking of cigarettes, cigars, or other substances is not permitted on
the church grounds. Again, this includes the church building, the
driveway, and the parking lot. Please respect our desire to keep our
church property neat and our desire to keep everyone attending your
wedding healthy.
