GENERATIONS TOGETHER
Several times a year,Wapping Community Church hosts opportunities for people of all ages togather in community to celebrate the seasons that give rhythm to a lifeof faith.
Church Picnic: Webegin our church year with a picnic in September. Games, parachuteplay, water balloons and the annual softball game make this funafternoon for all involved! Advent Fair and Crèche Lighting: Traditionallyheld on the first Sunday of Advent, the Advent Fair is an opportunityfor all to participate in activities that remind us that advent is aseason of preparation and anticipation. The culmination of the eveningis a time of carol singing at the lighting of the crèche on the lawn. Shrove Tuesday Pancake Supper: Held on Shrove Tuesday (the day before Ash Wednesday), our pancake supper is a nod to the tradition of using up all of the milk, egg and butter rich foods in preparation for the simpler foods of the Lenten season. The pancake supper is great food and fellowship with a Mardi Gras theme - there are always beads and dubloons for all!
Lenten Family Gathering: A lovely, contemplative evening of activities aimed at preparing peopleof all ages for Holy Week and Easter. Activities includecollaboratively preparing a simple, shared meal of soup and bread, planting a tomb garden, learning about and participating in communion, and having an opportunity to wash each other’s feet.
