practical, emotional and spiritual support of Christ's Church. The
Committee seeks to involve all God's people in the ministry of caring.
Everyone has gifts for caring. You are invited to share yours, as you
are able through any one of a variety of efforts described below:
THE CARING CONNECTION Wapping
Community Church is arranged into a network of neighborhoods in order
to quickly know about and to provide assistance for special needs in a
household. Neighbors are enlisted by a Contact Person to provide
services such as meals, transportation, errands, and visits.
PARISH NURSES Parish Nurses serve as Health
Counselors, Educators, Advocators, Links to Community Services, and
Teachers to promote understanding of the connection between physical,
emotional and spiritual health. Health screenings, educational
programs, and private consultations are a few ways our Parish Nurses
help people to take more responsibility for preventing illness and
promoting health in their lives.
THE FRIENDSHIP TABLE Look for a friendly face at
the friendship table in the Gathering Room following worship on Sunday
mornings. Someone is there to greet visitors and new members with
information and handouts about Wapping Community Church.
MEETINGHOUSE MINISTRIES "Practice hospitality? Rejoice with those who rejoice; mourn with those who mourn." Romans 12.13 A
group of over thirty volunteers provides receptions following funerals
or special occasions for members at the church. Gracious hospitality
and delicious, wholesome refreshments contribute to a sense of care and
concern for families in times of loss or celebration. Receptions are
provided upon request through the church office.
PRAYER Sunday prayer concerns are followed up by
phone calls and greeting cards from the pastors and a team of
volunteers from the congregation. A Prayer Chain made up of dozens of
people prays daily for anyone upon request.
SMALL GROUPS Throughout the church year a
variety of small group opportunities are provided for members and
friends to build relationships and to explore and exercise their faith:
retreats, Bible Studies, Faith Exploration Series, fellowship groups.
Watch church bulletins and newsletters for information about
registration in upcoming groups.
If you wish to offer your time and talent to caring ministries, to
enroll in a program or join a small group; if you find yourself or
someone close to you in need, please call the church office and ask the
Church Administrator or one of the Pastors to help you access our
network of caring ministries
